Tomato

planted a cherry tomato plant in back garden on 5/21/10
  • fertilized when planted

  • watered about every other day - including rainfall

  • doing well - has a few tomatoes about to turn

  • starting to have yellow leaves on the bottom of plant - will look into cause

fertilize peppers

6/12 fertilize peppers once the plant starts to flower

Seeds

after trying seeds directly outside I have realized that the mulch I am laying ontop is preventing germination and growth.

so do not mulch until seedlings are 2-3 inches high.

doing well

6/10/10
Green pepper is doing great in a container on the deck - therefore, I must conclude that it needs well drained, good soil.

tips from online - green pepper

http://forums.gardenweb.com/forums/load/okgard/msg0112323311328.html

- not more than 8 hours sun

- love nitrogen - can't over feed

- no cold weather

- water in morning - if the leaves are wilted or soil is dry - ok if leaves wilt during day/sun

- mosit but not soggy soil - should feel moist but not sticky

- soil, doesn't matter which but needs to have good drainage and well amended with organic material

New Pepper Plant

5/21/10 ~ Planted Green Pepper plant

5/24/10 ~ the leaves have wilted and the plant looks like it will die soon -

5/27/10 ~ believe the pepper is getting too much sun (10 hours) so moved the plant to deck in container (closer to 6-7 hours sun)

Also not sure if soil was bed in garden but do not think that was it because the first night on the deck it looked better int he morning but once the sun hit it - it started to wilt again.

Another issue - water - it may need more in the deck container?????
